Transport Malta is committed to making its Vehicle Registration website accessible, in accordance with National Legislation Transposing Directive (EU) 2016 / 2102 of the European Parliament and of the Council (1).

We are continually improving the user experience for everyone and applying the relevant accessibility standards.

This accessibility statement applies to the website ereg.gov.mt to which the statement applies.

Compliance status

This Website is partially compliant with EN 301 549 as per the Directive (EU) 2016/2102 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 26 October 2016 on the accessibility of the websites and mobile applications of public sector bodies known also as the Web Accessibility Directive.

Compliance process and measures

The Vehicle Registration website is designed to be compatible with the latest versions of Google Chrome, Internet Explorer, and Mozilla Firefox. Web browsers which do not have JavaScript enabled may experience difficulties navigating the site.

Transport Malta has reviewed the contents of its website, and apart from attempting to follow best practices in responsive UI design and ease of navigation throughout the site. The Authority strives to maintain and improve upon the following areas of compliance:

  1. Catering for users of assistive technologies by using alternative text and element descriptions.
  2. Having the option to switch site content between Maltese and English languages.
  3. Using appropriate levels of colour contrast for text where applicable.
  4. Consistent formatting throughout the site including the fonts, sidebars and tabs.
  5. Organising content into lists elements to facilitate navigation for elements pertaining to specific sections of the site's sub - categories.
  6. Making use of captions, image titles on the site.
  7. Offering a wiki-style documentation for users to understand how to navigate and use the site’s main pages and functions.

Inaccessible Content

Please note that the website currently consists of some elements which have lower contrast ratios than those specified in WCAG AA guidelines. The Authority is currently performing ongoing changes to the website to improve our compliance status with the above standards, which includes the use of more accessible contrast ratios over the coming months to follow both the WCAG and Government colour schemes simultaneously.

One should note that there are some design elements used in this website which are compliant with WCAG AA guidelines but may trigger false positives on accessibility scanning software.
